Midcoast Christian Fellowship was started in the late 1980s. A local Methodist pastor had a desire to reach the youth of Belfast, and so he opened a storefront outreach for young people. It was in this storefront outreach that the seeds of Midcoast Christian Fellowship were planted. After several years, the pastor left the United Methodist denomination and started Midcoast Christian Fellowship in the storefront outreach. During the early years of Midcoast Christian Fellowship, church services where held in two storefronts, in a local Baptist Church, and in a Grange Hall.
Since 1999, the Lord has provided a full-time home for Midcoast Christian Fellowship in the form of a warehouse on Patterson Hill Road. Many hands helped transform the warehouse into the wonderful house of worship that it is today. Midcoast Christian Fellowship has a sanctuary that seats over one hundred people, a large fellowship hall, classrooms for Sunday School, and offices, and it also serves as the Waldo County Food Distribution Center, which provides food for the local food cupboards.
